Awakening

I've lived in or around Philadelphia my whole life. I'm 20 years old and have experienced more than a lot of people my age. I have also experienced less than a lot of people my age. Right now, I'm beginning to realize a few things...

1. The world, especially the city of Philadelphia is small. Perhaps even tiny. It's only getting smaller. I meet a new person (or 10) nearly every day. It's getting to a point where I can't meet someone new that does not know someone that I already know. Everyone goes to the same bars and listens to the same music and shops at the same stores. We're stuck in a hole and we need to get out. Yeah, everyone likes to go out and dance - but is that all there is to do?

2. Not everyone sees the world through my eyes. I always have good intentions. I want to be happy and have fun and I wish that upon everyone I meet. But some people want to be happy and have fun but will not think twice about walking over other people to do so. I need to learn how to weed these people out. At the very least, protect myself.

3. I am never done learning. About myself, others and life in general. Life is a never-ending journey. Every once in a while I think I have it all figured out, and that's when I have to remind myself that I don't know anything.

I hope this blog becomes something of interest to people. I want to share my experiences and reflect on them. Hope you enjoy...
